Spousal Sponsorship

Post by ScoutLar » Sun Nov 10, 2019 3:47 pm

Hello,

I'm hoping someone on here might be able to give clarity on our current situation.

My wife and I currently live in Canada. She is a British citizen by birth, and I sponsored her to Canada as my wife. She has decided that she wants to go back to school, and the NHS will cover her tuition, so it was a bit of a no brainier for us.

My question though is, are we able to apply through the spousal sponsorship, as she is not currently living or working in the UK? I know they require a minimum of 18,600 GBP per year with an employer, but does that have to be an employer within the UK? I'm also aware that you can apply based on sufficient savings, however we are not overly wealthy and we definitely do not have that amount in our savings.

Please help.

Thanks

Without sufficient savings of £62500 the only quickest route might be if she has earned equivalent to £18600 during the last 12 months in Canada and now have job offer going to commence in 3 months upon arriving. Otherwise she will have to move first and find a job and then after 6 months she can sponsor you.
The opinion expressed as above is neither a professional advice nor contesting/competing to other member's opinion/advice.

Depending on your age and other circumstances, you may be eligible under the category linked below for the initial move over to the UK. Otherwise the only way would be to meet the financial requirements of the spouse visa as seagul mentioned.

I'm just a guy on the Internet who immigrated to the UK. My opinions are based on my experience and interpretation of the immigration rules and should not be considered legal or immigration advice; your mileage may vary.
