Spouse visa [SELF submitting] - Questions about supporting documents

Post by maufalcon » Mon Feb 01, 2021 6:29 pm

Hi everybody! I'm from Argentina and I married my husband (a British national) in February 2020. We are doing the spousal visa ourselves, and despite having looked at a lot of information, we still have some doubts that maybe you can help us with! Thank you so much in advance :D

1) This is a brief list of what we're planning on presenting as supporting documents - do you think there's something we're missing or might not be necessary?

Personal documents:
1. Applicant's current valid passport and previous passport
2. Applicant's birth certificate
3. Applicant’s parents’ birth certificates
4. Applicant's criminal record certificate (no criminal record)
5. Sponsor's current valid passport
6. Birth certificate

Proof of genuine relationship:
7. Marriage certificate from Argentina (supposed to be recognised by the UK)
8. Statements from a friend of my husband and my mother-in-law
9. Some pictures of both of us and pictures of our wedding and honeymoon
10. Receipts for our travels together (our honeymoon and trips here in the UK)

Financial proof and suitable accommodation:
11. Sponsor’s 6 last payslips (they're not stamped because of COVID)
12. Sponsor’s bank statement for the last 6 months
13. Sponsor’s current employer letter
14. Sponsor's P60
15. Tenancy agreement for the flat where my husband currently lives
16. A letter from the letting agency endorsing both of us living together
17. Gas, electricity & internet bills and Council tax bills

I'm also including my IELTS exam (an A1 level) and I shouldn't need a TB test (Argentina is not included on the list of countries with TB).

2) All the documents from Argentina (except for my passport) are translated by an official Argentine translator and certified by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Argentina. But the documents from the UK (my husband's birth certificate, for example) are simple scans. Is this format right? Or have you certified the documents somewhere?

3) Before getting married, we spent most of our relationship appart, but talking constantly. Should we include our Whatsapp conversation or phone calls? If you've included them, which format did you use? Because I could take screenshots of the conversations with my phone, but I don't know if that would be useful.

PS: If you have the information of any visa adviser that we could hire to just take a look at our documents, that would be appreciated too! All the advisers we found offer to handle the entire process themselves but we can't afford it. We could use a simple phone call.

Thank you for reading and thank you in advance!

Personal documents:
1. Applicant's current valid passport and previous passport
2. Applicant's birth certificate Not required
3. Applicant’s parents’ birth certificates Not required
4. Applicant's criminal record certificate (no criminal record) Not required
5. Sponsor's current valid passport
6. Birth certificate Not required

Proof of genuine relationship:
7. Marriage certificate from Argentina (supposed to be recognised by the UK) Is it in English??
8. Statements from a friend of my husband and my mother-in-law Not required and irrelevant. Anyone can write a letter and state anything. Such letters are disregarded. You need evidence of communication between the two of you, ie whatsap or FB chats screenshots etc.
14. Sponsor's P60 color=#FF0000]Not required[/color]
Fine.

You don't need the birth certificates. Documents do NOT need to be certified.
3) Before getting married, we spent most of our relationship appart, but talking constantly. Should we include our Whatsapp conversation or phone calls? If you've included them, which format did you use? Because I could take screenshots of the conversations with my phone, but I don't know if that would be useful.
Yes, it is evidence of subsisting relationship.

Thank you very much! I'll omit the statements from friends & relatives. Regarding whatsapp and facebook communications, I believe PDFs from the website might be ok?

Again, thank you for your response!

Yes fine as long as they are literally screenshots and not exported to Excel for example.

Spouse visa - "Procedure" documents

Post by maufalcon » Tue Feb 02, 2021 3:57 pm

Hi everybody! I'm from Argentina and my husband (a British national) and I are doing the spousal visa ourselves. I wanted to ask you if there are any "procedure" documents that need to be uploaded when doing the visa online.

I mean: apart from the documents used as evidence of proof of income, housing, genuine relationship, etc, do we need any of the following documents?

- Sponsorship undertaking - Form SU07
- Form V4FA
- Form V4FA Appendix 2
- Receipt of the payment of the visa
- Receipt of the payment of the Health Surcharge

Is there any other document that we need as "procedure" (I mean documents that have no relation to the proof of income/genuine relationship/English level/etc)

Sorry if my question is not clear, but thanks for reading and thanks in advance for your replies!

Form SU07 is NOT required for a spouse visa. Do not submit this.

Submit only what the rules require. There is nothing other needed.
