Immigration and re-marriage

Post by Dina57 » Sat May 04, 2019 6:09 pm

Hello All,

I was wondering if anyone could help me. My partner travelled to America previously on a marriage visa after marrying an American woman, unfortunately this marriage broke down very quickly due to it becoming clear once living together in America that the woman was an alcoholic. My partner filed for divorce and return back to his home country. We have now met and been involved quite some time. However, if we were to ever marry would my partner stand any chance of living here in the UK with me? Or because of the past with the US would it be more likely that I would have to emigrate to his home country?

What is your nationality?? Your profile flag suggest you are an EU citizen.

As long as he has proof that he is divorced and free to marry, there should be no issue in moving to the UK.

Spouse Visa requirements

Post by Dina57 » Sat May 18, 2019 8:37 am

Hello, I have recently married my partner and we have a son. I am currently in the process of filing for him to join me in the uk through a spouse visa. I meet all the sponsor requirements, the only issue is that my husband was previously married and migrated to the U.S however as his marriage broke down he filed for divorce and returned to Jamaica (his home country). We have lots of evidence of our relationship being sincere. I just wondered how much of an issue his previous marriage and immigration is going to cause? I’ve heard of people being set back years.
