Step children British Citizenship Application

Hello,

I am a Romanian national and was practicing my European Treaty Rights at the time when my family came to UK. My wife came to the UK in July 2020, next year she will have 5 years and can apply for settled status (currently she has presettled status). I got settled status in January 2022. My step daughter and step son came to the UK in June 2022. Applied for their status and they received settled status thru me in August 2022. I have acquired British Citizenship recently in 2024. My question would be:

Can my step children (age 14 and 16) apply for British Citizenship now? If not when and how can they apply? Thank you as it is very confusing.

There is no concept of step parent for nationality applications.

They can apply for citizenship when their mother does.

As soon as your wife gets her settled status apply for her and both children, especially the eldest who will be 17 at that point, before they turn 18. If eldest turns 18 they will need to sit for the LITUK and English language exams.
