Student Loan And ILR

Hi

I am on a Tier Health care worker visa in the UK since April 2021. My daughter has been offered a place in the University . I was prepared to pay international fee . My understanding was , you need an ILR / Birtish Citizen ship and Three years of residence in the UK to apply . However , my daughter found an option for Tier 2 visa holders option in the student loan application. This is a paper application whihc is very extensive.

She has decided to apply as there was an option offered . She may or may not be offered a Student loan .
My primary concern is , will this be held agaisnt me when I apply for an ILR ? Is this equated to " Owing money to the Government " . Suggestions and opinion welcome

Student loans are government money yes.

Where in the uk are you based? England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland?

Have you found this form on the official student loan company website or after speaking to them?

It seems only family members under EU settlement scheme can benefit from this: https://www.ucas.com/money-and-student- ... nt-workers

I am based in England. The Application did not specifically mention about the EU settlemnet caveat. I am trying to get on a phone to them , which seems to be impossible due to the long waiting times

It says only the people who reside in the UK under the EU settlement scheme as family members can benefit from it. As far as I know, migrant worker family members are classed as international students and must pay the relevant fees and do not qualify for UK student loans
