Tier 2 Dependent from within the UK

Hello all,

Quick questions for those who have applied for tier 2 dependent visas from within the UK. We both have tier 2 general visas and have applied for a dependent visa for our newborn baby (born here on the UK). Sent this off 6 weeks ago by postal service. Questions are:

1) Did you receive any email or letter of receipt by the Home Office? We only have evidence of the Royal Mail tracker that it's been "picked up" by someone named Bob! No correspondence from the home office if it has been received and is under process etc.. is this normal? In the past they did use to send out a letter saying they've received the application and to go do biometrics but now the biometrics letter is automatically generated after submitting the application online.

2) Has anyone switched to the priority service AFTER applying for standard service? Is this at all possible to do?

Many thanks in advance. Have tried ringing the Home Office to check but they won't entertain me as my application is still within the standard processing times (8 weeks)!!!!

1. Did you enroll the child's biometric after printing off the letter online??? Acknowledgment letters or emails are not always sent.

2. I don't believe you can change to priority now.

It can take up to 8 weeks, as stated, sometimes a bit longer.

Thanks for your reply. Yes we enrolled baby's biometrics immediately after submitting the application. We were just wondering if it's usual for them not to send a letter of acknowledgment/receipt. So do we just expect for her documents + BRP to be sent back via post without any notification if all goes well?

Fairly normal for online applications yes.

Yes.

I applied for tier 2 dependent for our baby recently.

I put a self-addressed special delivery envelope along with the documents to HO. I got the passport and other evidence documents back within a week. BRP is still pending.

Thanks for your reply. Oh dear, did not think of sending a self-addressed return envelope at the time! Would it be too late to do so now you think? Should we just leave it be and just wait for the documents and BRP to be returned? Been feeling quite anxious about this whole thing as desperate to go home to Malaysia for a short break but wasn't worth paying all that money for premium service seeing as we are due for ILR in a year's time (more £££ involved)!!
