Tier 2 dependent to Tier 2 General

Post by vish0905 » Mon Mar 04, 2019 10:12 am

Hello,

I want to switch from Tier 2 General Dependent to Tier 2 General Main and my employer is willing as well.
I know that I need to go to my home country (India) for application. My question is, do I need to leave for India as soon as I apply or is it OK if I travel only after all process (COS, RMLT, etc) is done and I need to visit the Embassy. Also, when does the dependent visa terminate? In the worst and hopefully unlikely case that a general tier 2 visa gets delayed/rejected), I can still continue my employment on the dependent visa right?

Regards,
Vishakha

How long have you worked for the employer? Are they an HO approved sponsor with a licence? What is the SOC and job title?

You can stay till after RLMT and CoS. Note that you can only be offered the job AFTER the full and proper RLMT has been done. If you are offered the job before it completes or the RLMT has been designed to only benefit you and exclude all others, you will potentially risk a CoS and/or visa refusal.
Also, when does the dependent visa terminate? In the worst and hopefully unlikely case that a general tier 2 visa gets delayed/rejected), I can still continue my employment on the dependent visa right?
Only when and if you get a Tier 2 General granted.
