Tier 2 General dependent work permit

Hi
I'm currently on tier 2 ICT (since Sep 2012) and my wife on Tier 2 General (since Sep 2015)
Is it better to switch to Tier2 General dependent? I hear there is a possibility to stop t2g dependent to work.. If thats true then dilemma is :
- does this rule change affect those who are already on t2g dependent, or
- does this rule change affect new dependents in which case its better to switch to t2g dep now
- this rule is quite unlikely to happen

Let me know what experts think.
