Tier 1 general

Post by Meeran » Sat Jul 04, 2015 6:55 pm

hi,
I'm having tier 1 general visa until June 2016. Further I need to apply for ILR. We got a baby recently so what is the procedure for the little one to get visa. We registered her birth in council is it mandatory to register for her in Indian consulate and also have to arrange for passport.
Can I apply for child benefit for my baby, please clarify,
Thanks
Meeran

If the baby was born in the UK, you can either apply for a PBS Dependent visa or you can skip that and apply for baby's British Citizenship once you have ILR. If you don't want to the child to have British citizenship, then a PBS Dependent visa and ILR on an Indian passport.

We registered her birth in council is it mandatory to register for her in Indian consulate and also have to arrange for passport. It is up to you, depending on what your future is and what citizenship you wish the child to have.

Can I apply for child benefit for my baby, please clarify, You can only claim child benefit after you have received ILR. While you are on Tier 1, you or your partner (if a PBS Dependent visa) are not allowed to claim child benefit
Thanks

Correct, you are not allowed to claim benefits until you have received your ILR.

Read through the Set(O) form and guidance for an idea of what the current requirements are and documents you will need.
