Tier 2 visa delay

I applied for my tier 2 Visa extension through sopra steria on 28th Jan 2019. It's been 10 weeks now and it's going nowhere. At 8 weeks got a letter saying due to exceptional circumstances, might take longer. What is the maximum time frame? Any ideas , as I cannot join my job. As usual they cant provide any further help until decision is made. My current Visa expires on 15th April. Anything I can do?

2. What is your SOC code?? Any other issues you might be aware of??

3. Presumably it is an extension with the same employer??

Hi,
Many thanks for replying back. I have applied for extension as I have changed employer and hospital. I am a doctor working in UK for last 3 years. I have changed place as well as employer. It's well past the timeline of 8 weeks.
