Tier 2 General Visa Extension

Post by Expat2009 » Sat Mar 26, 2016 2:02 am

Hi,

My 3 year Tier 2 General expires in September 2017. Is there anything in the rules that prevent me from applying for an extension in September 2016, a year in advance? Or do I need to wait until it's closer to the current expiry date?

Thanks

The experienced rate salary fluctuates (usually goes up) and is reviewed twice a year. I want to mitigate that risk by applying now that I am fulfilling all requirements.

So, does that any one know if there is any restriction on this timeframe?

Thanks

You can apply at most 3 months in advance.

the last advise is wrong.
There is nothing stopping you from applying whenever u want.
you can apply today, in sept 2016 or sept 2017.. all you have to make sure is you apply before the expiry of your current leave.
however, if you apply too early, then you waste the time allowed to stay on tier 2. So lets assume your intiial leave was given in sept 2014-sept 2017. If u get a 3 years cos in sept 2016 rather than 2017, your leave will be till 2019 as opposed to 2020 if u had applied in 2017. Unless you apply with a 5 years cos in 2016, in which case it will be 2020 sept again, as you cant have leave for more than 6 years.

Hi iworker , I wonder if you can advise me on the following query please.

I'm applying for 3yrs remaining T2 extension but my COS is for 5yrs, although my HR had added a sponsor note with new end date to reflect 3yrs only.

Should I be paying IHS for 3yrs or pay 5yrs then ask for refund? Please advise. I searched other posts and couldn't find a answer.

Kind regards
