Application cannot be processed withing service standards- UK Visit Visa

I, alongwith my wife have applied for UK visit visa (Standard appointment) ( 7th June, 2018 till 24th June 2018) on 16th May, 2018. I am in govt job and my wife is in private job. We both have submitted our employment records, No-objection certificate from our employer, financial records (I- Card, Pay slips, ITR and 6 months bank statements). We have also submitted confirmed return air tickets, passports, britrail passes, travel insurance, detailed itinerary and hotel reservations. I believe that we have submitted enough documents to support our application.

Yesterday i.e 23rd May 2018, i received an email from British High Commission that "says :-

"Unfortunately, the processing of your application has not been straightforward and we may not be able to make a decision on your application within our customer service targets. We will continue to progress your application and make a decision as soon as possible. Please note that fees paid are non-refundable."

Now , after going through this email we are in shock as we fail to understand the reason of this reason, our travel date is 7th June 2018 and we have made confirmed arrangements for the travel.

It is a standard email, many applicants get it for all sorts of visa applications. It just means it will take a bit longer than usual to process your application.

I wouldn't know if you will or not.

UKVI is quite clear that travel should not be booked until you get your visa though.

My mum also got the same email on the 15th working day visa was suppose to be out. Now is there somethjng going on with the UKVI?

No i never have been refused. Infact i am a bonafide indian government employee

We (4 family members) applied for Visitor Visa on 14 May at Chandigarh India. On 30 may, received email regarding non straight forward Application and possible delay in processing. Have flights on 5 June. It's seem that, have to postpone flights. Call centre reply said that it's under consideration and currently awaiting decision.

I am also in the same boat with exactly your travel dates. I applied for visa on 9th May in Delhi and got a standard reply on 23rd May that visa can't be processed within service standard time of 15 days.

If that is the case and we haven't received visa till now, should we cancel the hotel accommodation? I understand you won't know. Are you saying it is not mandatory to book hotel accommodation in UK for a visitor visa unlike the case in schenegen visa?

Could you please tell me that when a person is granted tourist visa for eg 15 days. Then is he granted visa for standard six months or that specified period he has mentioned in his application

The call centre is useless, burnt 20 pounds for nothing. They are saying the same thing again and again , "your application is under consideration"

UK tourist visa area granted for 6 months unlike Schenge visa which are often granted for the exact duration of your stay.

However, be careful of staying longer than stated in your visit visa application. Members have had subsequent visit visas refused for staying longer than that stated.

So in my case even if visa gets delayed i think i will have option to re plan my visit. But still i will have to bear the cancellation charges on flights, hotel, train tickets ((((

Yes, I think that is the toughest part. I think for me that is 1/3rd of the trip cost. And the worst part is that I can't cancel the hotel bookings now as I can get the visa later ( after the scheduled date of travel)
