Dependent over 18

Post by Adeeb2000 » Mon Sep 16, 2019 9:35 am

Hi experts,
I applied for Tier 1 £200,000 visa in March 2019.
I received the visa.

When I initially apply, my son was a minor, less than 18 years. In august he turned 18. My question is:
Is he still eligible for the visa as he was not 18 when I applied or he is out of the race?

Regards,

Adeeb

It is about when HE applies, not when you applied. You should have applied for your family when you did.

https://www.gov.uk/tier-1-entrepreneur/family-members
Family members
Your family members (‘dependants’) can join you if you’re in the UK on this visa. Your family members must have a visa if they’re from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland.

A ‘dependant’ is any of the following:

your partner
your child under 18
your child over 18 if they’re currently in the UK as a dependant
Read the guidance on dependant applications before you apply.

Many thanks.

So he does not qualify.

What are the other options do we have here, so that he can join us?

He would need to get a visa on his own - student visa, for example.
