Tier2 dependent visa extension - child in uk, spouse not in uk

Hello,
I am holding a Tier 2 general visa, which needs to be extended in the coming months. My spouse and child are holding T2 dependent visa. However, my spouse is not in UK at the moment. I would like to know if my spouse needs to come back to UK to apply for the visa extension? Or can my spouse submit from outside the UK? Since my child is in UK, can I apply for the visa extension for her first, without submitting the application for my spouse?

You cannot apply for the child if you do not apply for your spouse at the same time.

Your spouse should return to the UK to apply.
