Citizenship By Naturalisation - Speed Up?

Post by Palantir » Thu Jan 26, 2023 7:23 am

Just looking at some of the timelines of people who have applied for citizenship by naturalisation, there have been a few who have been completed within 8 to 9 months. Anyone else think that the Department is going to meet the target of 6-9 months that The Justice Minister has repeatedly stated was the target for 2022? Thoughts?

I applied along with my wife - both non-EU, 5-year residents - in January, 2022. As we've not received a request for e-vetting as of now and we're not expecting an end to the process any time soon. We're resigned to the 2-year wait (or longer).

I received my acknowledgement letter 6 months minus one day after my application was received.
6 months for initial processing - maybe, for while cycle - no.

Think the trend so far for 2022 applications seems to be quicker, but there seems to be no rhyme nor reason. Some get their acknowledgment letters a few days after lodging, some six months or so! So much for "chronological order"!!

I have heard some people who applied in 2023, yes 2023, got their acknowledgement/reference numbers and e-vetting requests together. All of this in the same month. So, that's one step less to wait.

I think the time that Justice department would take to update the processing time will also depend on ceremonies that will happen. As the process ends at the ceremony. Quite a lot of people have paid the fee of e950 but their process is not completed until ceremony takes place. so, 19 months which is told at moment would include ceremony.

That is crazy that 2023 applicants are already onto e-Vetting! Seems from the 2022 timelines, that once e-Vetting is done it is usually just a few months until approval. Complete mystery how they get done first ahead of 2022 (early and mid!) applicants.

I don't think the 19 months includes the ceremony. The letter states "from the date it is received until the date a decision is made". Unless there is some other information out there?
