will 2 kinds of visa be valid simultaneously

Dear all,
I am currently on tier 2 visa, I'm planning to go for tier 1 visa.
Could anybody tell me, will tier 2 visa become automatically void after I obtain tier 1 visa? I need to keep tier 2 simply because, i wouldn't be able to work on my present job on visa stamped for 'restricted work for doctor in training.'
