Travel before the biometric appointment

Post by Applicant231 » Fri May 05, 2023 9:26 pm

Hello,

I will apply for British Citizenship (with settled status) and I was wondering how long does it take to get a biometric appointment? I will probably click submit on the 12th and go on holiday for a week on the 18th.
When does the home office consider the application as "submitted"? After we pay or after the biometric appointment?
Normally my passport is never stamped in the EU, so it should be fine but if my passport gets stamped before the biometric appointment will it be a problem?

I am tempted to mention my week holiday before the biometric appointment in the cover letter... although I am pretty sure it is not going to count ... better to be safe than sorry? Fingers crossed I can click 'submit' on the 12th and obtain a biometric appointment before the 17th ... or am I dreaming?

I look forward to reading your feedback. Have a nice weekend everyone! :D

You can get an appointment the next day for a fee or even free. Could be up to £250 for some centres. I submitted my application on 11 March and managed to get free appointment at Peterborough's centre for 13th March. It was FREE.
The application submission date is the date of application i.e. when the application fee is paid and not the biometric date.

Thank you! I'll try to do the same.

In case I can't, would travelling between the application and the biometric appointment be a problem?

No, it is not an immigration application.

Thanks! Oh that's interesting! So on the form there is a question: Have you done any immigration applications (or something like this) should I say no? (even though I did apply for pre and settled status before, obviously)

This question is Yes and you list all the applications you made.

AmazonianX was referring to British Citizenship application NOT being an immigration application!!
