How to get a list of my absences from UK?

Post by jallen300 » Sat Mar 07, 2015 4:36 pm

Hi all,

I've been in the UK since March 2010 and so I'm now applying for ILR (form SET-O).

Question 6.2 asks me to list all my absences from the UK since I first entered the country. But I travel A LOT for work -- I shouldn't have a problem meeting the criteria because I don't think I've ever been out of the country for a full 180 days in any 12-month period, and even if I had, it would be strictly for work-related purposes. But my problem is that it would be impossible for me to piece together all the entries and exits just by using the stamps in my passport. Many are overlapping each other, some are barely visible, dates illegible...

Is there any other way to get access to this information (surely the UK Border Control has registered this information every time I've left or re-entered the country)?

Also, how strict will they be in assessing my list of absences? If I do my best, but accidentally overlook a couple of small trips, will they care?

Thanks!

Jeff

Strict, they know you travel history.

You can apply to HO/UKVI for a Subject Access Request which should tell you all the details held on you visa wise and travel wise.

it is mandatory to submit a letter from your employer detailing the purpose and period of absences in connection with the employment incl. periods of annual leave.
see immigration rule 245GF-SD(B) or 245HF-SD(B) depending on whether you are on T2 ICT or T2G:
https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... _final.pdf

what you enter in the application form for absences should tie up with the employer's letter.

Remember that you'll also need a letter from your employer certifying that they still require you for the employment in question

Frankly this letter is asked only if leave is more than 180 days in 5 year period. Recently 2 of my friends got their ILR without submitting any such letter. They had just given a self written letter stating the dates that were outside UK and the reason for the same.

Hi Gurus

for section 6.2 - list of absences

if its a long gap more than 180 days (Not in 12 consecutive months).

My doubts are:

Should we wright start date and end date?
Or
Should we break it in 2 years as per 12 consecutive months rule?

Thanks in Advance

Thanks for this info, CR001 -- how do I make a "Subject Access Request, and is there any chance I can get the info in the next 10 days or so? My appointment is 4 April (12 days from now).

Thanks again!

-very unlikely that you'll get a response in 10 days but you could try requesting urgent treatment by emailing the HO: subjectaccessrequestunit@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk

Thanks! But subjectaccessrequestunit@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk bounced back with a message that "The email address that you entered couldn't be found." Perhaps the email address has changed?
