Eligibility check

Post by aja » Fri Dec 06, 2019 12:32 pm

Hello,
I would like some clarification from the Gurus regarding my child born outside UK.

Immigration history of Child -
Jan 2012 to Jan 2015 - Tier 2 ICT Dependant
Jan 2015 to till date - Tier 2 Gen Dependant

Parent Status :
Parent 1 - ILR from June 2019
Parent 2 - Currently in Tier 2 Gen Dependant . Will be applying for ILR in 2 weeks.
Child 2 - UK born, have now applied via MN1 form.

Question - Child 1 Born outside of UK , is 12 years now. TO attain British citizenship, is the only option to apply for ILR now and apply for BC after 1 year or is there a similar process like registration ?

Many Thanks

The child born abroad can can apply for ilr when your spouse does.

The child born abroad will be eligible to apply for British citizenship when either parent is also applying for citizenship and the other parent holds ilr.

There is no short cut route for children born abroad.
