Unlisted circumstances, what documents must I provide for my passport application?

Post by Ultharz » Sat Oct 02, 2021 1:37 pm

Hello all,

I have just applied for my British passport, after recently being made a British citizen. I have a reference, so there is no issue there, however I must work out what documents to provide.

I was born in Zimbabwe and both of my parents were also. However, they are not British citizens, they still hold Zimbabwean citizenships. Now, the Government website says that I need to provide the following:

You’ll need all of the following:

- your full birth certificate showing your parents’ details
- the passport you used to come into the UK or any foreign passport that you’re included on
- evidence of one parent’s British nationality, for example their UK birth or adoption, naturalisation or registration certificate
If these documents relate to your father, you must include the marriage certificate showing when he married your mother.

As I stated, neither of my parents are British, what documents do I need from them in order to send?

Just to clarify, I have

- My birth certificate, which also includes my parents information
- My naturalisation certificate
- My expired passport
- My BRP
- My mother and my father's birth certificates
- My mother's expired passport in which I am included (because I came to this country when I was very young)
- Their Marriage certificate (however, they laminated it, so it may be void)

Will this be enough? Or will it affect my application? I had no issue when applying to become a citizen, but I cannot find information about this.

Surely, as I am an adult who has acquired full citizenship through naturalisation, there shouldn't be any issues.

Please help!

You only need your passport(s) and naturalisation certificate. This is clearly stated in the passport guidance notes.

The same passport form is used for everyone, simply ignore what is not relevant to you.
