T4 to T2, unsubmitted (but paid IHS), minor error --- will a cover letter suffice?

Post by kbp » Sun Dec 02, 2018 7:29 pm

Hi all,

I'm switching from a T4 (Student) to T2 (General) Employer-sponsored Visa from withinthe UK (leave to remain). Only after I paid the IHS (£600 for 3 years) did I realise that my entry in "National ID Number" was 2 numbers incorrect.

I tried to re-do the online application by starting from scratch, but the form would not let me manually enter an IHS reference number. Alternatively I could pay/submit this application and write a cover letter detailing the changes that I have made. This is following advice from:

general-uk-immigration-forum/visit-visa ... 67956.html

uk-tier-2-employer-sponsored-visas/t2-v ... 69048.html

(more links at the bottom)

I am not sure if this is the right advice to follow, as I am not applying for a visa but rather extending my leave to remain.

If it makes any difference, I plan to use the old service (Post Office, BRP scan, post documents by mail) as I do not live near any of the new service centers.

Thanks for your guidance.

Best regards,
BP

uk-tier-2-employer-sponsored-visas/onli ... 05508.html (this one explicitly specifies NOT leave to remain, which makes me think it does NOT apply to my case).

Hi,

Just an update to those who find themselves in a similar situation in the future:

I gave UKVI I ring today, and told them that I have already paid the IHS but not the Visa application fee. Their advice was to re-do the application from the beginning again, DO NOT SUBMIT the existing application[1], and wait for the old IHS to be refunded back into my account.

[1] The person on the phone emphasised NOT paying for the existing application, adding that doing so would just lead to a rejected/wasted application.

Thanks everyone who read my post!
