Schengen Visa (EU Spouse) Travel Without Spouse

Hi, here is the visa situation:
- I am a British citizen.
- My wife is an Indian citizen, but with Indefinite Leave to Remain in the UK.

My wife will soon apply for a Multiple Entry Schengen Visa for Italy. For this trip I will be accompany her. However, will she be able to use this same visa for a second trip to Italy when I won't be with her? I.e. is this visa only valid for subsequent trips with me accompanying?

If she gets a multiple entry Schengen visa she is free to travel as she wishes. The visa is not dependent on the British spouse traveling with her.
