ILR English language requirement

Post by ajd » Sun May 10, 2015 5:41 pm

Hello immigrants!

I am planning to apply for ILR in next month under Tier1 General route. The query I have is on behalf of my dependent.

My wife (my dependent) has this qualification from City & Guilds -
Functional Skills qualification in English at Level 1 - 500/9319/8
This is listed on Ofqual register (http://register.ofqual.gov.uk/)

I have attached the certificate for your quick and complete reference.

Can you please let us know if this is sufficient to prove her knowledge of English for settling?

Thanks for the response.

Well, this was not a test of English for settlement (ILR), but a 1 year weekly evening course done for some other career aspirations. She passed this course in summer July 2014.

The Gov.uk website at https://www.gov.uk/english-language/app ... ifications says -
3. Approved English language qualifications
You can prove your knowledge of English by having an English level B1, B2, C1 or C2 level qualification that’s one of the following:

an ESOL qualification at Entry 3 or higher (eg Level 1 or 2) on the Ofqual register taken in England, Wales or Northern Ireland
an ESOL qualification at Scottish Qualifications Framework levels 4, 5 or 6 awarded by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) and taken in Scotland
on one of the Home Office’s lists of recognised English tests and qualifications - look at the newer list if you’re applying on or after 6 April 2015

Please suggest.
