Indian Child Passport is expiring soon..on HSMP Dependent

Post by Vardhineni » Wed Jun 03, 2009 4:49 pm

Hi All,

I have got HSMP visa stamped in Dec 2007 for 2 years. I wish to apply for tier 1 extension in July or aug 09.

I have got a child whose passport is expiring in Nov 2009 and has HSMP dependent visa stamped on it. i will be appying for passport renewal in indian embassy this month. After the renewal, my child will get a new passport. Now do i need to transfer the HSMP dependent visa onto new passport? If yes how?

Also, We had a new baby born on May 3rd 2009 in UK. i am going to apply for the indian passport for the new baby. I assume that i do not need to apply for hsmp dependent visa right now for the new baby. When i apply for tier 1 extension, i can get the dependent visa on the passport for the baby. am i right here.

Thanks Vinny for the reply.

I think for my new baby born May 3rd i am fine. i just take a new passport from Indian embassy and present it during my tier 1 extension.

For my elder child, i would renew the passport. i assume that the indian embassy will give me both the passports i.e old and new one.

So, instead of spending money on transferring the hsmp dependent visa onto the new passport, can i present this new passport along with old passport during my tier 1 extension. Is this ok?
