Important Questions

Post by atier2guy » Thu Jun 11, 2015 7:56 pm

Dear Community,

I have a few questions, which I'd appreciate feedback on:

(1) I'm on a tier 2 general visa. Can I remain on this visa if I get married to a British citizen or do I have to switch to a married partner visa?
The thing is, I don't want to start the ILR clock all over again and I prefer to keep my visa status as is.

(2) Would getting married have any impact at all on my residency?

(3) I recently renewed my passport in my home country. Do I need to register with the police again?
My UK address hasn't changed.

Thanks a lot

(2) Would getting married have any impact at all on my residency? No. The only advantage is that as soon as you have ILR you can immediately apply for British Citizen as spouse of BC and don't have to wait the 12 months on ILR.

(3) I recently renewed my passport in my home country. Do I need to register with the police again? Not sure about this one.
