Flr fp and partner bankruptcy

Post by Maria5 » Fri Oct 23, 2015 7:14 pm

Hi all.
I am on flr fp 10 years route but only got my first 30 months visa expiring in 2016. I got my visa due to right of a family life of a British child and also due to my partner who having indefinate leave to remain.
During my application for the visa i had no income requirements.

My current problem is my partner who has ilr has just been made bankrupt. Just wondering if this will affect my extention of my flr fp visa coming year.

I am currently working 30 hours a week and My partner also works 16 hours a week.
We get tax credit and child benefit only but no other public funds.
Thanks for all your help.

It should not affect your immigration status and future applications.

It will however, affect your partners citizenship should he wish to apply. He likely won't be able to apply for a few years.

Thanks for your reply. I was really worried about my future visa extension as I thought home office would find out about bankruptcy and refuse my extension.

Roughly how long does my partner have to wait before applying for his citizenship? Is it after 3 years or after 6 years after bankruptcy?

Thanks for your time and reply.

after 6 years after bankruptcy?
He would have been better off to apply for citizenship before doing bankruptcy as this will now be on his record for a long time and it is one of the things they look at regarding the good character requirement.
