Hi everyone,
Apologies if I am Posting in the wrong place but I’d like some advice please.
My Moroccan girlfriend and I have been together for just over a year, we met in Madrid last September and although we live almost 1500miles apart we see each other every 6-8 weeks either In Morocco or Europe. We love each other dearly and we have now got to a point where we want to have a normal relationship and spend the rest of our lives together.
We want to go down the fiancé visa route in order to allow her to move to the Uk and live with me. We are meeting in Vienna over Xmas and I plan to propose to her. I’ve done a lot of research and as far as I can tell there should be no reason why her application won’t be successful...
- I earn well above the minimum salary of £18,600pa
- I own my own house
- neither of us have any criminal convictions
- she has never applied for any kind of uk visa and has never been turned down for for any other visa. When she applies she will still have 2months left to run on her 1 year European visa.
- we are both over 18 years of age
- we have met 8 or 9 times over the last 14 months so have plenty of photos and WhatsApp communication to show our love is genuine.
A few questions if I may...
I understand the initial fee for the first 6 months is a little over £1500, I’m assuming this isn’t refundable of the application is rejected?
Does the 6 months start from when the visa is granted or when she lands in the uk?
Does she need to have flights booked prior to submitting the application ?
Should we have wedding preparations set up prior to the application? Because she’s a Muslim it will only be a small registry do with a another ceremony in Morocco the following year.
Does she need to have a minimum amount of savings when she applies/enters the uk? I earn enough to support us both for the first 6 months.
We have hundreds of photos/ WhatsApp messages - how many should we send in her application? I’m assuming a few from each meeting?
I understand she is unable to work for the first 6 months. Are there any loopholes around this? Ie freelance work etc? She has a masters degree in translation and would have no problem in securing a job but clearly we want to make sure everything is done by the book. Can she work as soon as we are married or it is for 6months regardless of when we get married?
Once the 6 months is up, and assuming we have abided by the stipulations and are married, is there any reason why a spouse visa wouldn’t be granted for the following 33 months?
Sorry for all the questions, just want to be absolutely sure we get this right the first time around.
Thanks
