Just checking why BRP card has expiry date

Card will expire in 2024

2024 is the year the EU has stated all biometric documents (BRP and passports etc) must be updated with more enhanced security features.

The brp expires, not the ILR status if still living in the UK.

You simply apply to renew the card, like a drivers licence or passport is renewed for example.

Not required obviously if you apply for British citizenship.
