How to apply for my mother in law to visit?

Post by Rambo99 » Sat Apr 08, 2023 5:10 pm

Hello. I want my mother in law to visit from Pakistan. My wife has been in the country for 4 years (we will be applying for ILR in December) but she is pregnant and wants her mother to come spend some time with her in the UK. What are the requirements? And how do we go about doing this?

Thanks in advance.

Apply for a standard visitor visa.

https://www.gov.uk/standard-visitor

She will have to prove she has strong ties to her home country, ie social, family, financial, property etc.

How long does she plan on visiting and has she visited the uk before?

She has not visited before and I'm not sure how long she would stay. How long is she allowed?

First application when granted will be for 6 months. It will be reasonable to expect her to indicate when applying to stay on visit maybe 4-6weeks.

Work, source of income, family, a life and generally anything that she just can't "up and leave" behind. a reason to return.
No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!
