Leaving job on Global mobility visa

Post by cricketvirat » Sat Feb 17, 2024 10:22 am

Hi,

I need some help. I am changing my job within UK and currently on global mobility visa. My future employer has applied for undefined cos(skilled visa) and looks like it is going to take time. While I wait, can I stay in this country for 60 days after leaving my job? Appreciate any help.

Thanks

Until you receive your visa cancellation letter, which could take several months, you are free to stay in the UK.

Applying for skilled visa from outside UK

Post by cricketvirat » Thu Feb 22, 2024 1:49 pm

Hi,

I have left my job on ICT visa and joining UK based company. The employer is waiting for undefined cos and it is going to take sometime. I am thinking of going to India and process my visa application with defined cos. I understand defined cos is something which can be issued by the employer quite quickly(may be in a day) if all required documents are clear. This is just to reduce the time and quickly start my new job.

q1. Could defined cos be allocated in a day? has the process changed at all in these kind of cases?
q2. Any extra documents I need if I apply from India? Travelled to India just to make the process quicker. Will HM consider this and raise any objections?

Is there any risks involved here? Any information helps

Thanks

There are many reports of delays for defined cos.

If your new employer has one to assign, it can be done instantly. If they do not have one and have to request allocation, expect delays.

Unlike undefined cos, in case of defined cos, employer don't have to buy any right? defined cos will be assigned on demand is what I read online. Could you please let me know what's the right way to ask this to my solicitors and get the answer?

If the employer doesn't have any to assign, they have to apply for more. Many are experiencing delays at the moment. There is a fee paybale.

Dont confuse assigning one to you with the lengthier process of requesting one from ukvi. Two separate processes.

DCOS were at one time issued with a degree of rapidity but that is no longer the case. More checks are applied and it has slowed the process down considerably.
If your new employer is a new sponsor and has few migrant workers do not bet on it being a quick process. If it is a well know global organisation with a proven track record then it can be quicker.
If the role is in the private care sector - you can forget getting a DCOS this side of 11th March.
