Please Advise me on cool off period!

Dear All,

I am currently working in the UK on Tier 2 general work visa which will expire next year September. However, recently I have received an offer from one of the top Universities in the UK which I would like to go for. I understand that I have to switch from Tier2 visa to Tier 4 visa, which I would like to switch within the UK. In this case, does the cooling off apply?

If yes,
1. when does the 12 month cooling off period start? For example, if I start the university on 1st September and resign my work on 1st August. Does it start on 1st September or 1st August? (Assume I did not receive home office's letter and my company informed the home office on the same day of resignation).
2. If I resign in June but did not receive my curtailment letter until September, does the cooling off period start from the date I resigned or from the date I started my new visa?
3. Assume that it starts from 1st September, can I apply for Tier 2 visa again and find an employment in the UK next year before September which may start after September or I MUST apply for the visa after the cool off period, which is next year September?

I would really appreciate it if any of you can answer my questions.

Are you asking about cooling off period in relation to apply for a Tier 2 General again in the future? Your post is not clear.

If it specific relates to future Tier 2 General, then your 12 month cooling off period starts from the date your Tier 4 visa is granted and you can only apply for Tier 2 G exactly 12 months after that.

Yes, it was regarding the cooling off period for future Tier2 application.
In this case, for example, if I apply for my Tier 4 visa in June and granted a visa in July which will be valid from September (let's say same date as on CAS), does the cooling off period start from July or September?

If it specific relates to future Tier 2 General, then your 12 month cooling off period starts from the date your Tier 4 visa is granted and you can only apply for Tier 2 G exactly 12 months after that.

And another important question.

I realised that the only option to apply for Tier 4 visa within the country is extending a Tier 4 visa or switching from Tier 2 visa. I am currently holding Tier 2 visa. If I resign before I apply for my Tier 4 visa and stay in the UK before I submit my Tier 4 visa, can I still apply for Tier 4 visa within the country, in other words, does it still count as switching from Tier2 visa?
