PBS dependent application query

Post by Waseem432000 » Fri Jan 04, 2019 5:22 pm

I am about to apply for my wife's dependent visa. I have been in UK for 4 months and living in a shared house where I have rented a room. I am thinking about applying for her visa with rental agreement of that room before getting my own place before she arrives in UK. Some work fellows have suggested me to get my own place first and then apply for her visa with renatl agreement of that flat since UKVI can reject her visa application because they aren't usually satisfied with shared rooms for couples but I can't find any visa rejections for similar reasons on this forum. Getting my place can push her visa application back by couple of months least and will cost me a bit of money right now when I don't really want to spend it. Worth taking the risk?

Hi Waseem432000,

You don't need to arrange accommodation for your wife before VISA application. Simply write in sponsorship letter that you will rent 1 bedroom flat once VISA is approved and you already looking for the suitable flat. Also mention you salary amount and provide your last 3 months payslip and 3 months bank statement to show that you have required finances and you can afford.

I had applied PBS dependent VISA for my wife and 3 children but I never rented a property before applying VISA. Rather I proved that in my invitation letter and with supporting documents that I have required finances in place and I can afford 3 bedroom house and I am planning to rent a 3 bedroom house for my family as soon as dependents VISA is approved.

I hope it will be helpful.

That surely helps. I work for a A rated employer and they have mentioned that they will ensure maintence for me and my dependents on Certificate of Sponsorship but i plan to attach my payslips anyway so I think attaching the rental agreement of my current shared room should be sufficent. BTW what is an invitation letter? Do i simply write a cover letter kind of thing to attach witth my application and explain that i plan to rent a one bedroom flat once her visa is approved?

Are you already on Tier 2 VISA? If your dependent are applying separately and you already are on Tier 2 VISA than you might need to show £630 maintenance (90 days) in your bank statement. In this case you might not be able to depend on COS Maintenance from your Employer. After you filled dependent VISA application it will ask you to provide maintenance proof if Sponsor COS maintenance doesn't apply to your dependent.

Make sure that your landlord confirms that house is not overcrowded (if you want to send rental agreement as supporting document). It might be good idea to not provide rental agreement as supporting document, just show required funds, payslips to proof that you are financially strong enough to afford renting one bedroom flat after VISA approval.

>> BTW what is an invitation letter? Do i simply write a cover letter kind of thing to attach witth my application and explain that i plan to rent a one bedroom flat once her visa is approved?

I mean a supporting letter from you (explaining you plan to rent 1 bedroom flat and your financial position) along with other supporting documents like 3 months payslips, 3 months bank statement, letter form employer. Also to show relationship, it would be good idea to send some wedding pictures or Whatsapp/calls chat history.

Brilliant. Thanks a lot Masood. Yes, I am already working on Tier-2 visa from last 4 months but thankfully i have a bank account in Pakistan where i kept around 3 lakh PKR for same purpose so shouldn't be too bigger of issue attaching my bank statement. We are planning to submit around 25,30 pictures of our wedding and casual pictures after that while we also have selected close to 100 screenshots of facebook messenger chat and translted them into English myself. I will follow your advice and not submit the the tenancy agreement at all but i will submit the cover letter explaining my situation in property search. You have been really helpful in answering all my questions. Have a nice day and Thanks again :)

Tier 2 spouse visa application Successful

Post by Waseem432000 » Wed Feb 06, 2019 11:51 pm

Hi everyone

My wife received her stamped passport today and her visa is granted. I am posting the list of documents and important things which I want to share with everyone planning to apply for dependent visa. My wife applied from Pakistan so few of our documents are specifically for Pakistan

1. Standard documents like my BRP and passport copies which are attested by Notary public.
2. My employer is A rated so they issued me a letter which had information regarding my employment and they added a line explicitly mentioning that they will ensure maintenance for my dependents. They also checked the option on COS as well so I didn't have to submit any bank statement.
3. Nadra issued english marriage certificate.
4. Wedding and other casual pictures.
5. My pay slips of last few months
6. The payments slips of me sending her money for her maintenance while I am in UK.

Following points were quite confusing for me and there wasn't much help regarding these topics so I like to share them specially.

7. We are used to calling and messaging on facebook messenger and WhatsApp but we always communicate in Urdu which isn't the language most visa officers understand hence I prepared a sheet where I put screenshots of conversations of my phone and her's and translated them in English myself. I am not sure if it was required but I got all translation pages stamped by Notary public, just to be on safe side. There are many English translation services available but don't spend your money on it as you don't need professional translation.
8. I currently rent a room in shared accommodation but I planned to get my own flat once my wife is here so to explain the whole living situation, i wrote a letter explaining that I am renting a room but I plan to get my own place once my wife is here and my attached pay slips are proof that I have sufficient funds to afford one bedroom flat of my own so arranging accommodation for your partner before you apply for visa isn't required which surely saves least a month of rent money.

She received a message to pick up her passport on the 8th working day after attending the biometric appointment.

I would like to thank members and moderators who have replied to all my queries regarding my own visa process as well as my wife's. If anyone has any query, I would be happy to help. Thanks, everyone, and good luck.

Hello , I have been looking into the forum about this situation. Glad to know that maintenance letter from the a rated sponsor works, I will apply next week I’m hoping It will get accepted as well for my husband.

I was wondering if your COS was expired by the time of your application? x
