Incorrect IHS Fee and COS duration

Post by ZAGill » Fri Aug 23, 2019 10:19 pm

Hi,

I am a Doctor and currently applying for Tier 2 visa. While filling out the form, when asked if I was joining someone I entered my wife’s details (not applying as a dependent visa) who has ILR and entered the 5 years expiry date. When i had to pay IHS surcharge I paid for 5 years in error even though my application was for 3 years.

1) would I be able to get a refund?

2) if I am not applying for dependent should I have left the section of joining someone in uk blank?

2) second issue is that the hospital has given me a cos for only 1 year would that cause an issue in applying for tier 2 as visa is either for 3 years or 5 years.

3) Would I get the visa for three years or 1 year?

4) If I get for one year does it mean that I will lose Ihs surcharge paid for additional 2 years?

If anyone can help please.

Thanks

1. You should get a refund but it can take awhile.

2. Yes as not relevant to your application. Why didn't you apply for a spouse settlment visa instead?

3. You will only get a 1 year visa, same length as your cos. It won't be a 3 year visa.

4. Possibly.

Thank you for responding

2) some personal reasons however not sure whether home office will question that or not. Can I withdraw my application and then reapply. Have not attended the biometric appointment yet.
If I withdraw would the full fee be refunded including IHS for this application.
