Switching from Tier 2 dependent Visa to PBS main applicant

Post by muniyal » Thu Feb 18, 2021 1:22 pm

My husband has Tier 2 general dependent visa since March 2020 ( I am the main applicant). Now he plans to apply for PBS visa to be sponsored by his own company.
My questions are -
1) Is it possible to make this switch from within UK?
2) Would he have to pay IHS all over again? We have already paid IHS for 5 years in March 2020.
3) Will the period from March'2020 till the new PBS Visa be counted towards settlement 5 year requirement, or will his clock set to zero once he get the PBS Visa?

Many thanks for the advise. Sorry for a list of questions.

1. Yes.

2. He has to pay again.

3. No, the time spent on PBS dependent doesn't count towards the 5 years for ilr if he switches to skilled worker visa. His 4 year ilr clock will reset to zero when he switches.

Many Thanks for your prompt response.
Just a quick one. In the third answer you said 4 year ilr clock. I guess that was meant to be 5. Is it?
Thanks again
