Skilled worker visa dependent-ILR dependent

Post by Shrav » Sun Jan 19, 2025 12:58 pm

Hi,

I have arrived in UK in May 2019 and with change of sponsorships my Visa expiry was until May 2025 but i was eligible for ILR much earlier and I got my ILR in June 2024.

I got married in November 2023 and my husband arrived in UK in December 2023 on skilled worker dependent visa and his visa expiry is May 2025. I did not add my husband for extension during my ILR application.

I want to apply visa extension for my husband and have couple of questions mentioned below:

My Questions:

1. Which Partner Visa Route do I need to apply?

2. How long will the extension be granted for my husband? As my husband will be eligible for ILR in November 2028- (First visa was granted for 1year 6months). I just want to see if we can avoid another visa extension before he is eligible for ILR.

3. I will be eligible to apply for a british passport this May 2025 - does this change the status of my husband or can he be eligible for applying ILR earlier.

Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance 😊

1. Skilled worker dependent visa extension.

2. It will be a 3 year extension.

3. No, nothing changes for dependents and no earlier ilr eleigibility. You are eligible to apply for citizneship by naturalisation (not a British passport, which is a separate process after you become british) in June, exactly 12 months after you got ilr. Not sure why you think you qualify in May.
