Travelling post citizenship application

Post by sdcard » Mon Apr 13, 2015 12:04 am

Hi

I have my NCS interview on 17th April, and intend to fly out on 24th April (back on 5th May).

Is there a restriction on travelling when you have applied for citizenship? Harrow NCS need a confirmation to say you wont be travelling within 5 working days of application. I haven't seen this restriction on any other London council NCS.

I appreciate any response - thank you!

Thank you so much - I decided to go with Islington NCS as closer to where I am based on the day and they didn't have this restriction.

HI Guys,
I have applied for my Citizenship on April by postal application
But my personal circumstances have recently changed. I have to travel outside UK in the beginning of September. Can I ask home office just to return my original travel documents and not withdrawing my application?

What are the options for me still to travel?
Has anyone been in this situation before?

Many thanks in advance.

You may get processed in time, suggest checking the timelines in this forum to see how quickly applications are being processed.

You can use this online form to retrieve your docs.
I understand there is an option to declare that you still wish to continue with your application.

Thanks a lot noajthan.
I really appreciate your reply. I will wait for a while until 1st week of August. If I didn't get an approval I will use the option to returning my documents back.

Ram

Just be prepared that the time it takes to process your application will lengthen once you request for your documents return and resubmit them to continue with your application. Can I ask, why not use NCS, when at least they make a passport photocopy and you can retain the original passport?

No you can't, NCS is for checking and submitting your application. You have nothing to submit at NCS. Remember that NCS is not part of Home Office.

You will need to request your documents back as advised and wait to see what happens after that.

Hi CR001,

It means, I have to request HO to take a photocopy of my documents and to return my original documents back.
But still,i have to mention i prefer to continue my application for citizenship.

Is that possible?

Its tricky as far as I can understand. That is why spending a few more £'s on NCS is the wisest decision in my view, no such hassle at all.

I send my application 31st of March. Received acknowledge receipt on 9th of April. I requested return of my documents on 1st of June as I have to travel to Poland. Waited 10 working days after reported not receiving documents in 10 working days. I called UKBA been advised to complet another request for return of my documents so I did. Called 2week ago explaining that I need my documents as I have to be in Poland on 4th of July. The gentleman on the phone left me with devastating news that none of my request exist in UKBA system. I can't see how this is possible as I have all the reference numbers. I contacted my local MP office so they contacted home office on my behalf but no response :( For past week I called them every day,I manage to speak to serval people in UKBA but none of them could help me as every day I heard different story. I contacted Polish embassy for new documents but waiting time is 7weeks  Can someone advise me what else I could do :?

@andromeda hope you've got a result.

I had a similar experience. It took 2.5 months to get my passport returned.

The only way is to keep calling them. Eventually a proactive officer in the Sheffield office was on my case and actually called me back three times!

To highlight how amazing the callback was: I had called the contact centre (somewhere in Scotland) about 8 times, had been promised callbacks within 48 hours 3 times. Only once did it come, and only as an acknowledgement that I would be called by an agent in 2 days, which never happened. Then I was promised 2 urgent callbacks which were to come the same day, but never did. The 3rd urgent callback eventually arrived 2 days later and that was my saviour from Sheffield. Even then it took a couple of weeks before my passport was back in my hands. Poor guy. I thanked him for helping me, but had to be honest with him I didn't think it was actually going to happen. In the end they sent ALL my documents back with what I hope was a default letter telling me they may request them again.

In short, the 10 working day return of documents is a complete lie.

I'm now 5 months into my application and unsure if the return of documents has affected my application and if I'll need to resubmit them. Surely they scan them! Or rubber stamp a section of the form. I'll call them up when I hit the 6 month mark.

I tried using the return document form and never heard anything. I emailed the Further Nationality uk email address and got a real person to email me back 3 days later. They sent my passport and got it 7 days after that.
