What happens if I don't have fingerprints, would that fail me from completing the process?

What do you mean you don't have fingerprints??

There are ways to deal with this, but you have to specifically request it and submit evidence I think on why you cannot give your fingerprints.

For example if I had bandages on my hands, because I had geniuine accident and burnt my hands badly while cooking.
What type of evidence would they ask for?

This was only a theoretical question, I just wanted to see what would happen in that scenario.
So, after successfully getting my biometrics taken (photo,fingerprints) what does the home office do with them? And how long do they keep it for - is it just until they finish the process of checking/confirming everything, or will they keep my biometrics forever.

I'm just curious about how the whole process works, it's just those little details that intrigue me, as I like to be educated on this subject.
