British citizenship ceremony photographer

Post by Scientist in a dream » Sat Jul 06, 2019 1:15 pm

Hello,

I have received the ceremony letter and I am thinking about a photographer at the event. I have come across someone mentioning that there will be a local photographer from the council.

As I will be attending a group ceremony I am not sure how reliable this photographer would be. I assume a few photos will be taken of every individual upon receiving the citizenship certificate. Are the photos going to be available digitally?

What was your experience at the ceremony? Did you find the photos to be of a high professional standard?

I am considering to hire a photographer.

Photos are fine and done profeasionally and in print. They cost extra I recall.

Unlikely you will be permitted to have a photographer in the ceremony and allowed in the area where the photos are taken with the official.

Note also that the photographs are taken when you are presented the certificate as part of and during the ceremony and not after the whole group event.

There is a limit on guests the council's allow for the group ceremonies.

What if I decide to invite the private photographer as a guest. Would that be a problem if he decides to take photos when I am presented with the citizenship certificate?

He will not be allowed in the area where the photos are taken? Maybe if he sits in the audience area there might be obstruction and there is no point hiring a photographer for this purpose?

No he will not. He is not part of the ceremony and the council provide this service already.

Your choice but the guest gallery is not usually very near to the actual cert presentation spot/event.

You would need to check with the council if they permit photographs in the Chambers, my council did not and the venue was an council chambers auditorium, my 2 guests sitting up on the tiers.

Also important to note that group ceremonies are usually very large groups, mine was around 60 people (some are more), and the photographer at the ceremony was in situ when the presentations by the official commenced in the specific order, and you literally are not up there for any length of time.

Be respectful that others are also there and need to get through the process. There is a time limit to the length of ceremony.

Some images from a google search.

Depends on the Council. Some councils allow you take photographer along as long as within the limit of guests. The problem is you will not be able to stop whilst receiving the certificate so be prepared to get it at the right moment. After completion of the presentation the mayor/MP does pose with the recepient. Again check with your council.
