Naturalisation of Child Born in UK - Parent Got ILR last year

Post by Junaidrai » Thu Jan 09, 2020 10:46 am

Hi Experts,

I am father of a three year old boy who was born in UK in 2016, at that time my Immigration status was Tier 2 General. Last year (2019), I have been granted ILR on 5 years basis (Tier 2 Gen.).

I am now thinking to apply for my Son's British Citizenship, but I have some questions as mentioned below:-

1 - Is he now eligible to apply for British Citizenship?
2 - What is the process to follow (or the forms i do need to fill)
3 - What documents will i need to attach as application backup
3 - How much this will cost me?
4 - I am planning to do my application in Mar-2020, does it save us something if i do one Joint application (for me and my son)?

I highly appreciate your kind response on the above queries.

Kind Regards,
JR

1. He was eligible from the date you got ilr to register as British.

2. Form MN1 online.

3. Birth cert, passport if he has one, your ilr evidence, referee forms, parental consent.

3. Current cost is £1023 for MN1.

4. No reduced cost for a family application. Each applicant has to pay the set fee.

Hi CR001,

Thank you very much for your kind response.

I am slightly confused with the Referee forms, My Child is only three, he is not going to a school, So i cannot ask any teacher to sign the form in professional capacity, checked with GP, they are not happy to do that either, really confused. Who else can do that?

Plus, Parental Consent, is it part of the online application, or do i need to produce something additional? any format available with you?

Regards,
JR
