UK born kid - British registration query

Post by Dinesh_123 » Sun Mar 15, 2020 8:53 am

Hello everyone,

I have recently got ILR, my son is born in UK and I would like to apply for his British registration.
I have come across 2ways of applying one is online and other is in downloading form, please correct me if I am wrong.

1. Can you please help me suggesting which way I have to apply, online or paper form (MN1)?

2. Another query is, after applying within in how many days maximum I have to take little one for biomtery?

3. Are biometry for British registration available in reading and London?

4. My little on dependent visa expiring in April ending, do I need to apply his British registration within this time or can I be able to do within 28 days after April?

I am just trying to avoid taking him through travelling for sonetime as so much about virus going on.

Please suggest me your valuable thoughts.

Thank you in advance.

You apply online and use ukcvas for document upload and biometrics. The same process as for ilr.
2. Another query is, after applying within in how many days maximum I have to take little one for biomtery?
When you can get an appointment. Usually biometrics just be enrolled within 45 days.
3. Are biometry for British registration available in reading and London?
Yes, it is the SAME process as what you followed for ilr!!
4. My little on dependent visa expiring in April ending, do I need to apply his British registration within this time or can I be able to do within 28 days after April?
A UK born child does not need a valid visa to apply for citizenship. Note that if child is not British and doesn't have a visa, there could be implications for NHS charges.

If child is not British means kids born outside UK?

A child born abroad to non British parents AND a child born in the UK before a parent gets ILR is not British.

A child born abroad needs ilr before they can apply for citizenship when their parents also apply for citizenship.

A UK born child does NOT need ilr to apply for citizenship when either parent has ilr.
