Naturalisation Form Filling.

Post by Sar03 » Mon May 25, 2020 9:17 am

Hello all.

I would really appreciate if anyone could answer my questions as regards form filling for my naturalisation application.

1. I got my ILR via SETDV ,separated from husband but not divorced or legally separated. All I did was a statutory declaration of separation and that I don't live in the address again ,which I know is not legally binding. My first question is what do I put as my marital status ,as the only separated option says legally separated?

2. Where it says details of partner, do I still go ahead and put his details or I should just do a personal statement or cover letter to explain we are still married but separated because I don't know his citizen certificate reference number and can't remember the date he became naturalised.

3. I have never been out of the UK in the last 5years ,do I just put N/A in residence requirements or do I still need to explain that I have been in the country all through my 5years?

4. I will be 5years in October but can I apply in September (28days before my due date)?

Thanks all.

How long have you held ilr?

1. Married as that is what you still are.

2. Yes.

3. No need to explain anything.

4. No, there is no "28 days early" concession for citizenship. You must have 5 full years and meet all the requirements, including the physically present at the start of the qualifying period.

I came into the country in October 2015, got ILR in February 2017. Some people said I should have applied for my naturalisation in 2018 but I wasn't sure. I just want to get it right now that I am doing it.

Thank you very much ,what a commendable job you are doing. I'm very relieved now.

Yes, you could have applied in October 2018 based in 3 years residence as the spouse of a British citizen.

Do you have a copy of your spouse's British passport?
