cancelling or withdrawing naturalisation application before an appointment

Hi there,
I have filled AN online application for naturalisation, as a spouse of BC, applied within the UK, no other issues with qualification period.Paid fees and immediately I realised that I have accidently omitted middle name so instead of XYZ , I have just submitted XZ in the given names. Now I am completely terrified what next step I should take.After submitting the fees, I have received an email that UKVI will assess the application if it can be progressed by IDV app which can take 7-10 days. SO I would like to know what are my options in the meantime? I want to keep my middle name to avoid hassle in future. Can I cancel or withdraw my application and get the refund? My ILR still valid for 2 years.

No need to withdraw. Just write a covering letter explaining the mistake/omission.

I am going through the painful process, and no, I have not yet received the refund.

I have not seen a single post here where anyone confirms they have received the refund within a clear timeframe (only one person has vaguely confirmed they received the refund, after my insistent questions, giving a timeframe of one month. I take that with a grain of salt). Most people have written to report that they have made the request for withdrawal, and that after several weeks or months, they have yet to hear from the Home Office. My attempts at followup have received no response.

I requested the withdrawal of my application a month ago, and have heard nothing back, not even an acknowledgement that the withdrawal is in process or has taken place; and of course, no sight of the refund. Full story here.

I would discourage anyone from withdrawing a naturalisation application unless there is really absolutely no other choice.
