Do I have to submit my ID as a supporting document?

Post by daseom95 » Tue May 24, 2022 5:42 pm

My checklist mentions my passport but then at the very bottom it also says 'proof of Nationality'. I'm confused, is my passport not enough? I gave them my ID number when submitting the application

Consent Form Question

Post by daseom95 » Tue May 24, 2022 5:48 pm

I'm submitting my tenancy agreement and council tax letters as supporting documents. Does it mean that my landlord and previous flatmates all have to sign the consent form?

And if so can it be an electronic signature?

My lawyer advised me to submit council tax letters as proof of residence as I don't have payslips to cover that period of time.

does anyone know what is understood by a tax year account statement? I'm supposed to submit ' most recent tax year account statement and corresponding HMRC tax return as proof of self-employment'
Is it the annual tax summery, SA302 or something else?

Thank you. And I have another question; do I have to pay my taxes before submitting the documents if the deadline is in January?

No - there are no financial requirements for the application, income/taxes/NI/benefits/profits/losses.
Unless you are not paying what you are obliged to, then "Good Character" would come in.
Isn't it enough to pay the high application fee ...

Thank you. And does anyone know whether I should submit my uploaded files on the UKVI website before the biometric appointment if I bought the document scanning service too? I've uploaded most of them but not sure if I should send them yet as it might mean no new documents can be uploaded during the appointment, on the other hand, if I don't submit they might disappear from the system and have to be uploaded again?

You don't get the option to submit your documents online. You can only upload them. After your fingerprints are taken, you would be asked at the center if you're okay with them submitting your files. Only then would it be submitted. After that, it would look like it's still open, but whatever you upload after that minute doesn't count anymore.
No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!

There is a submit option on the UKCVA portal for applicants. An applicant can however only submit once. Any further uploads will be submitted by UKCVAS

Phew, I need to keep with the times. These things are fast evolving. Just the other day someone got their naturalisation cert without swearing an Oath. Thanks for letting me know.

[Problems with HMRC] I'm supposed to submit a self-assessment statement of account as one of the supporting documents. But my assessment says I have tax due February 2022 which I already paid months ago, plus the amount it's showing is wrong. Called HMRC many times and all they say is that I have nothing else to pay and that they won't amend it. Do you think that will be a problem? All I can do is explain this in the cover letter but it seems suspicious

Can't really see why this should be an issue.
Return shows an amount to be paid, whether it should be a different amount is between you and HMRC. It doesn't mean you have defaulted. By all means write an explanatory note, in simple terms, but a caseworker won't be reconciling between the return and what HMRC claims. There's not a case here of tax dodging/evasion.
