Confused after submitting AN application!

Post by Arrows23 » Sun Jun 11, 2023 8:28 pm

Hi,

Looking for a little advice -

Submitted my AN application today 11/06 and was directed to the UKVCAS website to book a Biometrics appointment. Don't understand why? as I already have a BRP, but ok no worries.

Then was asked to upload upload mandatory documents -
NZ passport
And that was it, they didn't want anything else. I'm just so confused as to what I need now as it said I had to download the referee docs and get them signed, but doesn't give anywhere for them to be uploaded. Also they haven't asked for my husbands passport or our marriage cert? Will they ask for this later?

Thank you in advance for any replies, my husband and I have found this whole process quite confusing as even the application guidance isn't very helpful!

Cheers,
Arrows

The biometrics appointment is not for a BRP card. It’s just a requirement for the application.
Documents normally are:
Passport
BRP
Life in the UK
English test (not required as NZ is majority English speaking)
Husband’s British passport
2 referee declarations
No idea why the list didn’t show this.
This is just my opinion as a member of this forum and does not constitute immigration advice.
Please do not send me private messages asking for advice.

Thank you for your reply. The application form did list all of these things you've mentioned but on the website where I am to book the appointment, the only mandatory documents it asks to be uploaded is my passport (which I did). I do have all of the listed documents in hand. Should I wait a few days before booking the appointment in case they ask for more documents?

You won't be "asked". You simply need to upload all the required documents.

Like you rightly said, the only "mandatory" document is your passport. Your application can't be processed without it.
The rest "Others" are optional, to prove that you meet all the requirements. If you don't add them, they simply take your money and reject your application.
Trust me, they would lose no sleep.
No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!

Keep in mind that naturalisation is not an immigration application and its processing is different.

It is an optional application for both you and the Home Office, because your ability to live in the UK will not be impacted if it is refused, as all applicants are required to have ILR before applying for naturalisation.

The onus is on you, the applicant, to prove that you meet the requirements, by submitting the relevant proofs for the answers you have provided in the application.

Thank you for your reply! I'll make sure to get all optional documents and add them to the application.
