ELIGIBILITY FOR CITIZENSHIP

Post by fenoj » Tue Sep 26, 2023 2:32 pm

I came on a tier 2 work visa and brought my wife as a dependent . I then obtained ILR and my wife switched to as a dependent of my ILR. I have now applied for citizenship and awaiting decision , can my wife be eligible to apply as a british citizen , we have been married for 2.5 years and she has been on the dependent visa of my ILR since 2021. Please clarify as I am not able to come to a conclusion
Thanks

She needs ILR first.
Since your wife switched to your ILR dependent (I don't know why - she could've stayed a Tier 2 dependant), she needs 5 years on your dependant to get ILR.
After ILR she can apply for citizenship.

No, she cannot.

She needs ILR before she can apply for citizenship.

She can only apply for ilr after 5 years on her current visa route if she switched visa categories.
