Naturalisation application

Post by DreamerBeliever » Sun Mar 16, 2025 12:56 pm

Hello Mods

Firstly, many thanks for all the guidance I have received on this platform for past 5+ years.

After GTV, both me and my spouse - having been on ILR for 16+ months qualify for naturalisation. I am in the process of applying for naturalisation and have a few queries regarding our applications.

1.Trips outside UK - In one instance I travelled from The UK --> Country A (2 days) --> Country B (6 days) --> The UK. Since the 'country visited' box allows mentioning only 1 country - do I proceed with two separate entries or one? I assume the Departure date and return date are from departing and leaving the UK - so either I leave out mentioning one country completely (i.e., only mention Country B) or mention two separate trips. I don't want to say something that is incorrect in describing this trip.

2. For Proof of living in the UK - both for previous addresses and for utility bills, do I submit details only for last 5 years i.e. - from March 2020 to March 2025 or from when I entered the UK, i.e., Dec 2018 onwards? Also, for documentation - could it be a combination of rental agreements, utility bills, council tax etc - or I should only stick to one 'type' of proof? Some cover annual, some monthly.

3. For English Proficiency and Level - my spouse who has got her degree from outside the UK - has an ECCTIS Visas and Nationality Statement issued in October 2023 - that proves both the Academic Qualification Level Statement and English Language Proficiency Statement - which we submitted during the ILR process. Would this be enough proof for her?

4. Referees - we have 2 British Citizens - who meet the accepted occupations for countersignatures list. Under How does the referee know the applicant - column, can we write basic descriptions such as "Family friend", "work colleague" etc.? Also, do we need to specify who from the 2 referees is the ‘professional person’ and who is the one with the professional standing?

I am grateful as always, for your guidance

Thank you.

1. Just list the first country.

2. You do NOT have to submit all sorts of bills and rental. Full passport with stamps only.

3. Fine.

4. You don't have to specify anything about which one is which.

No need to specify which is which, basic descriptions are OK.

Thank you @contorted_svy

I am not providing a cover letter.
But I will be mentioning Country A in the box, and in the description box under each trip (which has a 30 characters limit) - I am elaborating something like "Business+ CountryB 16-22 Oct". Hope this will clarify the situation (fingers crossed).

A related question to the same application

I started the application with my wife's application. After putting in all her details, I then added "another applicant" as me and have provided all the details.
I read on other threads on this forum that there is no such thing as a joint application for naturalisation, and that each application is treated individually (possibly even by separate case workers)

My question is - does the sequencing of the applicants within the application matter?
Asking because until now I have been the lead applicant and my wife has been a dependent. Sorry if I am overthinking.

My question is - does the sequencing of the applicants within the application matter? NO -there's no lead applicant, every applicant is treated equally, no dependency or family concept application.
