You will need to wait for a year if you are not married to a British citizen on the date of application.

Unfortunately, for purposes of naturalisation the Home Office make no allowances for being the widow or widower of a British national. I speak from sad personal experience on this - they treat it the same as if you had divorced your British spouse as opposed to them dying.

Sorry to know about the death of your wife, I think you can only make an application under 6(1) which is proving 5 years residency. You will also need to be present in the UK 5 years ago on the date of your application.

I can sadly confirm from all advice I've received that for purposes of naturalisation, being widowed is functionally the same as being divorced. We widows/widowers don't count as spouses of British nationals, despite the circumstances being so diffrent from a divorce.
