Hi,

I was given ILR (long residence) on 20 October 2020. What the earliest date I can apply for citizenship? I have to travel out of UK fairly soon so can I submit my application on 20 Oct 2021 at 12:01 AM?

We're currently in British Summer Time (BST). If their system works in GMT (an hour less) and you apply at 12:01 20th October you could be applying at 23:01 19th October to their system.

So Simon is right in erring on the side of caution.

However I am not exactly sure how they count the days or 12 months as they mention in the guidance. If the day on which ILR is granted, is day 0 then i will have to wait until 21 Oct.

If it was me, I'd wait a day or two anyway. Just to be super safe.

Obviously ensure you were in the country 5 years prior.

I think you are splitting hairs.

Think about it this way; if you had a child named "ILR" born to you on 20th October 2020, when would it celebrate its first birthday (the completion of one year of existence)? You can apply on or after that first birthday of "ILR".

Hi,

I applied for naturalisation but all i received was payment confirmation and ukvcas confirmation that my biometrics were successfully forwarded to ukvi.

I didnot received any application confirmation with a reference number. I remember that when i applied for my child, i received an email confirmation with a reference number, saying that application is under consideration.
Should I be worried?

It may take a while to receive the actual acknowledgement. Members have reported waiting a more than a week.
