Hello
My son is going to apply for Naturalisation. He got ILR last year. He did not appear for English test or life in the UK test when he applied for ILR.He lives here in the UK since he is 4 years old. Now he is 19 years old and an university student.
My question is he needed life in the UK and English test for Naturalisation?
Any help will be highly appriciated. Thanks.

As he is over 18, yes the English B1 test and LIUK test is mandatory.

Thank you for your reply. He did GCSE and A level in here, will it be count as English qulification or not? Why they did not asked it for ILR?

No, they won't count. He would need to have completed a degree course in the UK to use that as proof of English language for naturalisation.

Given his age, I presume that he applied as your dependent, which has different requirements.

However, naturalisation is not a part of the immigration pathway, which ends at ILR, but instead has its own laws and requirements.

Thank you for your reply, I really appriciate it. Its really surprising that GCSE or A level is not count as a English qualification

Yes. It’s surprising. They have started to except GCSE or A Level English as satisfying the English language requirements under four immigration categories, but apparently not yet for naturalisation.
