Naturalisation queries

Hi everyone, was wondering if I could get some help with a question.

My wife is applying for citizenship and she has a UK taught degree to fulfil the English Language requirement. However, on her degree certificate, the name appears in the wrong order i.e. 2nd name, 1st name, surname (all other documents show 1st name, 2nd name, surname)

Will this be an issue? Will just a cover letter be enough or would we have anything extra to do like getting a letter from university etc.?

Many thanks in advance!

Don't think that will be an issue.
Note also that the naturalisation certificate will be issued with "surname 1st name 2nd name".
If you are still concerned you are free to enclose an explanatory note.

Thanks very much for your response alterhase58. We did speak to the university and they said they can't do anything about it and that we may have to get it notarised in this instance. :(

We can of course include it in a cover letter but wondering if this will be enough. Are we overthinking this as we don't want to face a rejection purely because the names have been swapped around on an essential document.

You are completely overthinking this. This is NOT an issue.

Note that applications are generally only rejected for very specific issues, mainly not complying with statutory requirements.
Not for minor inconsistencies or mistakes.

Thanks both for your advice. that is very helpful to know.

Can I also please ask in terms of a referee: We have a friend who is an ACCA qualified accountant that moved to the UK on a Tier 2 visa about 3 months ago. The question in the form asks for residency over the last three years. Is it a requirement that the referee was in the UK in the last 3 years or is it fine that most of those 3 years were spent overseas in her home country?

Many thanks!

An ACCA qualified accountant is normally ok, bust must have known the applicant for three years ...

Thanks alterhase58. Yes, she has been a family friend for many many years so that should be fine.

My concern is if she has to also have been a UK resident in the last three years since we have to include her addresses in the application form?

There is no requirement of her being resident for 3yrs.

Thanks very much AmazonianX! Also, the professional referee has been an ACCA accountant only for the past six months. I'm assuming this wouldn't be an issue?

It should not be an issue. No mention of duration referee attained professional status.
